80 – Capt Krishnan ( Leela ) Nair

Capt Krishnan Nair, founder of the Leela chain of luxury hotels, passed away over the weekend, aged 92.

After serving the Army he took over his father-in-laws handloom business and grew it to a large successful business as Leela Lace.

Then, at an age of 65, when most would have put up their boots, he founded Leela Hotels.

That’s right, at the ‘ripe old’ age of 65.

Proving that is never too late to get into start up mode. Or in other words, ‘Once a entrepreneur, always an entrepreneur.’

Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind. You are as old as your doubt, your fear, your despair. The way to keep young is to keep your faith young. Keep your self confidence young. Keep your hope young. – Luella F. Phean

At an age when folks would be resting on their oars, he went ahead and created wealth and employment for all those around him.
